Physiotherapy and Complementary Treatments – Targeted Care for Easier Movement

Complementary treatments aim to relieve muscle tension, ease musculoskeletal discomfort, and improve comfort during movement. A combination of manual and equipment-based techniques can provide additional options alongside massage, allowing targeted attention to overworked muscles and sensitive areas.

These treatments may be particularly beneficial for people who spend long hours sitting, exercise regularly, perform physically demanding work, or experience recurring muscle tension.

At MyTime Buda, the choice of treatment is always based on your individual condition and goals. Complementary techniques may be used on their own or as part of a massage session, provided they are appropriate and safe for your needs.

A különféle terápiás módszerek célja:

A fizioterápia nemcsak a fájdalom csökkentésére koncentrál, hanem a sérülések utáni rehabilitációra is, elősegítve a gyorsabb gyógyulást és a visszatérést a normál aktivitási szintre.
  • Postoperatív rehabilitáció: A fizioterápia kulcsfontosságú szerepet játszik a műtét utáni rehabilitációban, mivel segíti a sebgyógyulást, csökkenti a gyulladást és elősegíti a gyorsabb felépülést.

Therapeutic UltrasoundTherapeutic ultrasound is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce effects within the body's soft tissues. It may be used as a complementary approach to help manage certain muscle, tendon and joint conditions.

During the treatment, a handheld ultrasound device is moved over the affected area using a special gel to help transmit the sound waves. Depending on the settings and treatment goals, ultrasound may produce thermal and non-thermal effects within the tissues.

When may therapeutic ultrasound be suitable?

- Muscle strains and soft tissue discomfort
- Certain tendon-related conditions
- Joint stiffness and discomfort
- Back, shoulder, knee and elbow complaints
- Selected sports-related soft tissue injuries
- Scar tissue and restricted soft tissue mobility

Therapeutic ultrasound is not appropriate for every condition, and its effectiveness varies depending on the problem being treated. Suitability is assessed individually.

TENS TherapyTENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a non-invasive treatment that uses mild electrical impulses to stimulate nerves through electrodes placed on the skin. It may help provide temporary relief from certain types of pain.

During the treatment, small electrodes are positioned around the affected area. The electrical impulses create a tingling sensation, which is usually comfortable when the intensity is adjusted appropriately.

TENS may influence how pain signals are processed by the nervous system. Its effects vary from person to person, and relief is not always long-lasting.

The intensity, frequency and duration of the treatment are adjusted according to your individual needs and sensitivity.

When may TENS therapy be suitable?

- Back and lower back pain
- Neck and shoulder discomfort
- Certain joint-related pain
- Some persistent musculoskeletal pain conditions
- Muscle-related discomfort
- Selected nerve-related pain conditions

TENS is not suitable for everyone, particularly people with certain implanted electrical devices or specific medical conditions. An individual assessment is important before treatment.

Cupping TherapyCupping therapy is a traditional technique that uses suction to gently lift the skin and underlying superficial tissues. It is often incorporated into massage treatments to help ease feelings of muscle tightness and promote relaxation.

During the treatment, special cups made from glass, plastic or silicone are placed on the skin to create a controlled vacuum.

Cupping can be performed in two ways:

- Static cupping: The cups remain in one position for a short period.
- Dynamic cupping: The cups are gently moved across the skin, usually with the help of massage oil.

The suction may temporarily increase local blood flow and create a stretching sensation in the treated tissues.

When may cupping therapy be suitable?

- Tight or overworked muscles
- Back, shoulder and neck tension
- Muscle stiffness following physical activity
- General muscular discomfort
- Relaxation as part of a personalised massage session

Cupping may leave temporary circular marks or mild skin sensitivity. It is not a proven method of removing toxins from the body.

Assisted StretchingAssisted stretching is more than simply stretching your muscles. It is a personalised, guided approach designed to help improve flexibility, maintain joint mobility and relieve feelings of muscular tightness.

During the session, the therapist uses controlled movements and appropriate stretching techniques tailored to your comfort, flexibility and individual needs. Both passive and active stretching may be incorporated.

Assisted stretching can be particularly useful for people who spend long hours sitting, exercise regularly or experience muscle stiffness in everyday life.

Who may benefit from assisted stretching?

- Office workers: To help ease stiffness associated with prolonged sitting and limited movement.
- Active individuals and athletes: To support flexibility and comfortable movement during physical activity.
- People experiencing muscle tension: To encourage relaxation and reduce feelings of tightness.
- Those with reduced flexibility: To gradually work towards a more comfortable range of movement.

Potential benefits of assisted stretching

- Helps improve flexibility and range of movement
- May reduce feelings of muscle stiffness
- Supports body awareness and comfortable movement
- Encourages muscular relaxation
- Can complement massage and regular physical activity

Stretching should always remain within a comfortable and appropriate range. It does not guarantee injury prevention or improved sporting performance.

Kinesiology TapingKinesiology taping involves applying specialised elastic tape to selected areas of the body. The tape is designed to move with the skin and allow a relatively unrestricted range of movement.

It is commonly used as a complementary technique for certain muscle and joint complaints, particularly in sports and physical activity.

The tape is applied using different techniques depending on the area being treated and the intended purpose. Some people experience a feeling of support or improved awareness of movement, although scientific evidence for many of its proposed benefits remains limited.

When may kinesiology taping be suitable?

- Muscle tightness and discomfort
- Certain neck, shoulder and back complaints
- Knee, elbow and other joint-related discomfort
- Support during selected sporting activities
- Additional support alongside appropriate exercise or rehabilitation
- Certain swelling-related concerns, where professionally assessed

Kinesiology tape is generally flexible, breathable and water-resistant. Depending on the product, skin sensitivity and application, it may remain in place for several days.

The tape should be removed if irritation, itching or discomfort develops. It is not a substitute for medical assessment, rehabilitation or appropriate joint support when these are required.

Trigger Point TherapyTrigger point therapy is a targeted manual technique used to address sensitive, tight areas within muscles that may contribute to local or referred pain.

Trigger points are commonly described as particularly tender spots within taut bands of muscle. Pressure on these areas may reproduce familiar discomfort or cause sensations in another part of the body.

What are trigger points?

Sensitive muscular areas may be associated with:
- Local tenderness when pressure is applied
- Pain or discomfort felt in nearby areas
- Muscle tightness and stiffness
- Reduced comfort during certain movements
- A feeling of persistent muscular tension

During trigger point therapy, the therapist identifies sensitive areas through careful palpation and applies controlled, targeted pressure or other manual techniques.

The treatment may initially feel tender, but the pressure should always be adjusted to your comfort and tolerance.

When may trigger point therapy be suitable?

- Neck and shoulder muscle tension
- Back and lower back discomfort
- Tight or overworked muscles
- Certain tension-related headaches
- Muscle stiffness associated with prolonged sitting
- Muscular discomfort following physical activity
- Restricted movement associated with muscle tightness

Trigger point therapy may help reduce muscle-related discomfort in some people, although results vary. Persistent, severe or unexplained pain should be medically assessed.
